Coastal blue styling

Styling a home for sale doesn’t mean making it bland, beige and and boring.  Far from it.  It’s about bringing to life the possibilities of your property.  Here are some tips to get you started:

  1. Declutter and Depersonalise

Buyers want to imagine themselves living in your home and don’t want to be distracted by seeing traces of the current owners.  It’s also important that the buyer feels comfortable and relaxed in the property and not like they’re snooping around someone else’s home.  So remove all the personal items like family photos and fridge magnets…etc. Also its time to get rid of all the clutter – it can be surprising how much you just don’t see when you’re living in the property!  Don’t forget to tidy up and declutter wardrobes and storage spaces too – buyers will be looking in them!

  1. Art

Art is a fantastic way to refresh a property and create an interest in each room.  Choose a focus piece of art for a room or matching pieces when a room calls for it.  Also consider alternative hangings such as baskets and mirrors.

  1. Lighting

Let light be your friend.  A light and bright room creates an inviting feel and a relaxing ambience.  Ensure all curtains and blinds are wide open and turn on all lights – from ceiling lights to floor and table lamps.

  1. Greenery

Not only is Greenery the pantone colour of 2017, it is also a great way to bring the outdoors in and create a fresh feel to the property.  Whether you go down the real or artificial plant route, there are some great options out there.

  1. Relax

Forget symmetry and matching everything perfectly.  A Property Stylist spends hours creating a look that appears as if it’s just been pulled together with ease!  Use a range of textures and layers of cushions and throws for a relaxed and sophisticated look.
